the payroll tax holiday, that would expire, the health reform taxes, those would kick in. guess what? it would all mean less money in our wallets. carol? >> wow. well, you have to think that when congress looks at those numbers, lawmakers would get together and sing for the good of the american taxpayer. >> well, you know what? they're certainly not doing it before election day, don't count on that, but there is good news. that cnn money asked 17 economists, what do you think? do you think congress will get a deal done in time? and that's unanimous. all 17 said yes. they don't think we're going to go over the fiscal cliff meaning everything all at once won't happen. not to say that little pieces of it won't go away. but remember, this is just a guess. those economists, they're putting a whole heck of a lot of faith in congress. that's taking a leap. and as i said, nothing's expected to happen until after november 6th. get ready for this to come down to the wire, something that congress has done often times, the best at procrastinating, aren't they? and that's a big worry b

how in lord's name can they justify raising their taxes with these tax cuts? >> of course, joe biden went on to clarify. but, ana, paul ryan wasted no time, seizing on those comments. good strategy? >> look, you know, i love joe biden. i don't know how every republican in america doesn't love joe biden. he is a great guy. he's fun. he is the gift that keeps on giving. i miss joe biden. we hadn't heard a gaffe from good old joe in about two or three weeks. it really had been a long time. this is what the campaigns are like today in 2012, unfortunately. we look for gaffes on each other and try to make them real big. i think when joe starts getting earnest, when he starts getting righteous and starts talking about god, watch out, because a zinger is coming out. >> speaking of zingers, the debate spoet supposedly is going to be all about zingers. i can see mitt romney taking that line. i would. maria? >> the problem with that, though, carol, is that if you know joe biden and what he has done in his career, he has actually been one of the strongest spokespersons fo

struggling over the last four years or that he wants to raise the obama administration wants to raise taxes by over a trillion dollars. this is the joe biden we want. joe biden has to be careful about going too hard at paul ryan because of just that, because of the gaffes and because he can look over bearing, and paul, a lot is riding on paul ryan, and we want to keep that momentum going from that first debate, and he has to be careful not to get into the weeds of some of these policies. >> i know. he tends to be quite wonkish at times and people listen and say what? >> well, that's right. it is important that ryan stick with the big picture and go after biden on the rising debt and our sky rocketed unemployment and talk about the failed last four years as opposed to being trying to get trapped in some of the bieden spiderwebs that he will try to weave. >> it appears that joe biden is really taking this seriously because the democrats don't want to repeat of the first debate, right? joe biden apparently has taken six days off and practicing, practicing, practicing, especially with zingers.
